I wanted to bring you, my friends upon a short day vacation. What better place to visit, then Medicine Park?
Medicine Park is a mixture of the old and new. This in and of itself, makes this place a bit different then most other places. But what really sets this small community apart from others, is the fact its mostly made of simple people, working together, in bringing you arts and crafts. Most are hand made by the locals and there is enough eye candy to fill a entire day.
Remember them days that doesn't seem that long ago, when one could go fishing or swimming in the local pond or stream? Well for only a slight charge, you can do just that!
Shops do abound and one really caught my attention. It's the White Buffalo Trading Post. I found the people are very friendly and you'll find them very helpful without pushing items upon you. The feeling I had was warm, kinda like visiting long lost friends. They are located at: 166 East Lake Drive, Medicine Park, Ok. 73557 The phone number is: 405-802-1324
What appears to be the largest building in town, is The Old Plantation Restaurant. (Built in 1910) Since Medicine Park caters to so many visitors, it only stands to reason they have a crowd just waiting to get in to taste all of that outstanding food. We had a party of 6 and believe it or not, we had to wait for well over a hour, before we were seated! Short of the long is, it was well worth the wait.
Medicine Park is located just a bit over 1 hour east of Altus. And, its north of Lawton/Fort Sill. Just a note here? One must drive through the Wildlife Refuge so please be careful of all the critters you'll definitely come across. Oh and make sure you take your camera along!
