If It Sounds To Good To Be True...

Then It IS To Good To Be True!

No matter what the market is, no matter the location, you will always read or hear of something that is way too good to be true. Don't ever jump without looking first! Might I first suggest you view the following video before continuing?

The housing market has taken a nosedive and there appears to be no end in sight to just how much more this market will plunge. Head over to realtor.com and enter the name or zip code to any city. If your one to have kept an eye open for a good deal in a new home, then you'll have noted the plunge the housing market has taken. Be sure you look, then look again before taking that plunge. If your in the market to upgrade then now is that time. You'll find a large number of homes are continuing to be listed that have gone into foreclosure. People are proud of their homes but not of the situation they've encountered. Some home owners for nothing more then frustration, will damage their home prior to loosing it. Most often, repairs needed will be slight and will most always cost next to nothing in repair.

Here in Altus America, the housing market hasn't suffered as in other parts the country. Fact is, the average cost of a home has risen about 1.5% each year. A beauty not unlike the one appearing in the above video, is selling for $40,500.00 just down the street from me.

It's a 3 bedroom home having 2 full bathrooms sitting upon a corner lot. It is listed as a fixer upper so the realty office is at least, being kinda/sorta honest here. I jumped onto my bicycle and decided to check this lovely place out. Found its currently being rented, (Unknown amount.) the yards are a total mess, the rear fence is wood and appears to be in need of a major repair or just replaced. The roof needs to be replaced and I'm sure the plumbing also needs to be upgraded along with the electrical system. This home has a wall type heater and no air conditioning other then a old swamp cooler hanging out of a eastern window. In my own personal opinion, this home is only worth not more then $9,000.00. I just can't help but to wonder, if greed in our little part of the world, is fueling the housing market?

The home above is a 2 bedroom 1 bath selling for a staggering $54,500.00! It appears to have been painted inside and its offering central air and heat.

Decided to kinda close my eyes and pick a city on the ole wall map at random, and it turned out to be Dayton, Ohio. Did some checking on a similar home and it was found several selling from $3,000.00 to $6,000.00!! And believe it or not, these same homes are in a far better neighborhood that offers sidewalks. (Altus basically has no sidewalks.) Taking a virtual tour of said homes, it was found these were in better condition then those found here in Altus. Why? That's because as mentioned up above, the housing market has taken a nosedive and greed seems to be fueling the housing market here.

Note: As of 2000, the total population of Altus, was 21,447. Its been noted the city has lost several thousand do to a number of reasons. I've been wondering if, people have been moving out of state to area's with more affordable housing? I must admit, this is the reason why I left Calfiornia and planted myself right here in Oklahoma.
