Fun-Filled Night Of Basketball To Benefit Local Red Cross

The Harlem Ambassadors are coming to Altus. These next generation basketball players to the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters provide an evening of fun for the whole family. This exciting event is a Red Cross fund raiser to help provide for families just like yours when trouble comes knocking.

The Harlem Ambassadors will play Feb. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Altus High School Gym. The ticket prices are very reasonable and for those of you who saw the Globetrotters when you were small, you know how children love the show. In keeping with that, children 4 and under are free. Children and students through high school are $5. Tickets for senior citizens 55 and up are also $5. General admission is $7. Tickets purchased at the door are $2 more. Tickets went on sale today at area banks and credit unions. The Red Cross office at 905 N. Willard in Altus, and the Altus High School Athletic Office at 400 N. Park Avenue in Altus, will also be selling the tickets. There's even a contest for students to win a ticket to the show. Kids, ask your teachers, or call the Altus Times, but hurry. The contest is over at 5 p.m, Wednesday, Jan. 20.

In an age of fallen heroes, the Harlem Ambassadors offer a positive alternative. The Ambassadors zero in on good clean fun. They sponsor healthy, drug-free lives and want children to know how important they are to all of us.

The Ambassadors coach, nicknamed Lade Majic, (pronounced Lady Magic), says to parents:

"We hope that every kid who attends a Harlem Ambassadors game has a fantastic time!...I love meeting the kids. That’s the best part of the event. It makes everything worthwhile. At our shows we want kids to know that they’re part of our team, too. We invite as many kids as we can to sit on the bench with us and have a front row seat. We want kids to get involved in all the fun!”

Lade Majic says to kids:

"The Harlem Ambassadors are all drug-free and want you to be, too. If you make positive choices about pursuing your education and staying away from drugs and alcohol, you’ll better prepare yourself to achieve your dreams."

Youths often ask the Ambassadors how they can join the team. Here's what Lade Majic said to one such aspiring youth:

"You should take your academic and athletic career seriously in high school and college, remain drug-free and live your life in a righteous manner. Don't just talk a good talk. Walk the walk! Then, if you are selected to become a member of the Harlem Ambassadors Touring Basketball Team, you'll have a easier time adjusting to the requirements of being a 'Real' Ambassador."

If you would like to send a question to Lade Majic or, if after seeing the Ambassadors, you'd like tell her how much you enjoyed seeing her play, write to her at lademajic7@harlemambassadors.com

As their web site says: "A Harlem Ambassadors show: high-flying slam dunks, hilarious comedy, and fun for the whole family!"

You won't want to miss this fun event!
