Failure To Report / Train Takes A Plunge

Every morning without fail, I read the Sunrise Reporter over at: http://www.kwhw.com/sunrise-reporter.php This morning the following was reported:

LOCAL: It was a fairly quiet weekend for Altus Police with no major activities reported. Disturbance calls and a scattering of non-injury traffic accidents were reported. Traffic officers were also busy with routine traffic stops and issuing citations.

But yet, our local radio station failed to report the following:

ALTUS_ Altus police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot to death in a car. Officials have not yet released the victim's name, but say he is a 34-year-old Asian man who has ties to the Altus area.

Investigators say they received a call for shots fired at the Ridgecrest Apartment Complex early Sunday morning. "They also received information of a vehicle that was involved in the shooting that was leaving the scene. We had an Altus police officer blocks away from the apartment complex when the call came out. He saw the vehicle leaving the scene," Capt. Mike Turner said.

The officer then performed a traffic stop and pulled the vehicle over in the 300 block of south Carver. "Once they got the two occupants out they found the third occupant shot one time in the torso area," Capt. Turner said. Officers performed CPR, but their attempts were unsuccessful. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police do not have anyone in custody, but say they are still conducting interviews. "Each interview we are doing we seem to be getting more information. I am hoping it will come out to a positive end," Capt. Turner said.

Now I ask you the dedicated reader, has anything happened here in the sleepy town of Altus? Failure to report is very common here for a number of reasons. Most often, its money that talks, the perpetrator walks and the victim's are left to suffer.

Here is something else to think about. What if, mind you, what if, our illustrious drunken and drug abusing ADA, (Disbarred, Judge David Thomas) were to prosecute this case?

Only In Altus America!

This just in; A creek bridge east of Altus collapsed Friday evening as a train was passing over. The accident happened 5 miles east of Altus, and about a mile south of Duck’s Corner. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said there were no injuries from the accident, and speculated that the train car was too heavy for the old bridge.
